Baseball Recap: St. Peter's Eagles vs. St. Joseph-by-the-Sea Vikings
St. Peter was the 7-2 winner over St. Joseph-by-the-Sea when they last played one another back in June of 2025, but their luck changed this time around. The Eagles lost 9-2 to the Vikings on Friday.
Jake Levine was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching 4.1 innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off five hits. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in seven consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one home run.
Levine wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Joe Bello, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double. Anthony Gaglia also deserves some recognition as he hit his first triple of the season.
St. Peter's loss dropped their record down to 16-5. As for St. Joseph-by-the-Sea, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 15-6.
Looking ahead, St. Peter's will host Archbishop Molloy at 4:15 p.m. on Monday. The Stanners' pitching crew has only allowed 3.7 runs per game this season, so the Eagles' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for St. Joseph-by-the-Sea, they will challenge Mt. St. Michael Academy at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. The Vikings are facing the Mountaineers at the right time seeing as the Mountaineers are stuck on a three-game losing streak.
