Mt. Vernon faced Purdy in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Friday. Mt. Vernon was the clear victor by a 12-2 margin over Purdy. The Mountaineers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five games by nine runs or more this season.

Emily Schubert was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out eight batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned runs off eight hits (and not a single walk). Furthermore, she didn't allow a single walk, the first time she has blanked an opponent since back in March of 2024. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April of 2024.
