4A-1 Region III District 9 Top Player Performances of the Week

Congratulations to this week's top players! We're covering the best performances from Friday's football action (using all statistics entered as of the time of writing). Enjoy!

Trevor Brooks Turns in Season-Best Effort

On Friday, Chapel Hill got the W thanks in part to Trevor Brooks playing the best football he has all season. Brooks picked up a sack, forced two fumbles, and made 11 total tackles (2.0 for loss).

Palestine's probably not too fond of Brooks given he always seems to get the better of them. Back in September of 2023 (the last time Brooks saw the Wildcats), he picked up a sack and made 12 total tackles (2.0 for loss).

Big Game from Starling As Henderson Won 27-24

Things weren't looking good for Henderson heading into Friday's tilt with Kilgore(they were ranked 88 places lower in Texas), but Jesstin Starling wasn't phased. Starling turned in nothing short of a gem on Friday, rushing for 128 yards and two touchdowns. He is on a roll when it comes to rushing touchdowns, as he's now punched in two or more in the last seven games he's played dating back to last season.

Kilgore's probably not too fond of Starling given he always seems to get the better of them. When Starling last faced the Bulldogs back in October of 2023, he rushed for 123 yards while picking up 7.2 yards per carry.

Rickey Stewart Makes It Two for Chapel Hill

The second Chapel Hill player making an appearance here is Rickey Stewart, and for good reason. He rushed for 118 yards and a touchdown on only 12 carries. His longest rush was for an impressive 60 yards, which helps to explain his lofty yards per carry total.

Palestine's probably not too fond of Stewart given he always seems to get the better of them. Back in September of 2023 (the last time Stewart saw the Wildcats), he rushed for 238 yards and four touchdowns while picking up 12.5 yards per carry, and also picked up 46 receiving yards.

Anthony Newman Crosses Big Stat Threshold

For the season, Newman has averaged 5.5 total tackles per game.
