Basketball Recap: Colin Durkin and Joey Durdella Secure Win for Riverside

Riverside posted their biggest win since January 9, 2024 on Saturday. They put the hurt on the Collinwood Railroaders with a sharp 77-53 victory. Given the Beavers' advantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 354th, while the Railroaders are ranked 726th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Leading Riverside to victory were Joey Durdella and Colin Durkin. Durdella went 6 of 11 from beyond the arc en route to 26 points, while Durkin posted 15 points along with six assists and five boards. Durkin's evening made it three games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Kyle Harden, who had eight points.

The win was the third in a row for Riverside, bringing their record for this year to 4-3. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 69.0 points per game. As for Collinwood, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 3-7.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Riverside will challenge Mayfield at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Riverside is facing Mayfield at the right time seeing as Mayfield is stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for Collinwood, they will take on John Hay at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
