It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Westlake can now relate to. They took an 8-5 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Avon Lake Shoremen on Wednesday. Westlake has not had much luck with Avon Lake recently, as the team's come up short the last two times they've met.
For Avon Lake's part, Lindsay Revmatas made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out six batters over 5.1 innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off eight hits. Revmatas has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive pitching appearances. Revmatas was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with two RBI and a double.
In other batting news, Briana Webster was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing two bases while going 3-for-3. Another player making a difference was Mackenzie Anspaugh, who scored a run while going 3-for-4.
Westlake's loss dropped their record down to 5-10. As for Avon Lake, their win bumped their record up to 9-17.
