Softball Recap: Bishop Stang Starts Season with Win Against Bourne

Bishop Stang took care of business in their home opener (and then some) on Monday. They blew past the Bourne Canalmen 20-8. The Spartans have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Canalmen, too.

Melanie Peckham was incredible, going 4-for-5 with one home run, five RBI, and three runs. Sidney Alboum was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 4-for-5.

Bishop Stang always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .545. The last time their OBP was this high was back in April of 2024.

Bourne's defeat dropped their record down to 0-2.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Bishop Stang is packing up and heading out for their first away game of the season: they will take on Cardinal Spellman at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Bourne, they will venture away from home to face off against Monomoy at 3:45 p.m. on Friday.
