Softball Recap: Liberty Gets the Win

Liberty lost to Freeman on Saturday, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Saturday. The Lancers came out on top in a nail-biter against the Scotties, sneaking past 4-3. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Lancers have posted since May 3, 2025.

Jordyn Jeske made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 12 batters over seven innings while giving up three earned runs off three hits. She has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than 12 strikeouts in seven consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs and one stolen base.

Jeske wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Jesse Brumley, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI and one double.

Liberty's record is now 13-1. As for Freeman, with the defeat, they broke their 11-game winning streak and moved their record to 12-3.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Liberty will host Lind-Ritzville/Sprague/Washtucna at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. The Broncos have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 9.4 runs per game on average), something the Lancers will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Freeman, they will square off against Colfax at 3:00 p.m. on Monday. The Scotties' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Bulldogs have averaged an impressive 12.2 runs per game this season.
