Softball Recap: Chambers Cougars vs. Butler Bulldogs
Chambers extended their losing streak to four on Friday, dropping them down to 2-6. They lost 15-0 to the Butler Bulldogs. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Bulldogs this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 18-1 on March 10th.
As for Butler, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 6-3 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.5 runs over those games.
For Butler's part, Mallory Eitel made a splash no matter where she played. She pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Eitel was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. Those RBI marked the first that she has brought in this season.
In other batting news, Cherie Carter and Malea Williams did most of the damage at the plate: Carter got on base in all three of her plate appearances with three stolen bases and three runs, while Williams went a perfect 1-for-1 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. That's the most stolen bases Carter has posted since back in March of 2025. Another player making a difference was Peyton Bowar, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.
Looking ahead, Chambers will be playing in front of their home fans against Garinger at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Butler, they will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against West Charlotte at 5:00 p.m. on April 15.
