Soccer Game Preview: Austin vs. Akins

The Austin Maroons will challenge the Akins Eagles at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Both have had a bumpy ride up to this point with three consecutive losses for Austin and four for Akins.

Austin fell victim to Westlake and their airtight defense on Friday. They came up short against the Chaparrals, falling 4-0. While losing is never fun, the Maroons can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas soccer rankings (they are ranked 515th, while the Chaparrals are ranked 89th).

Meanwhile, Akins' game on Friday was all tied up 1-1 at the half, but sadly for them it didn't stay that way. They fell just short of Pflugerville Connally by a score of 2-1.

Austin's loss dropped their record down to 1-7-2. As for Akins, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-6-1.

Austin came out on top in a nail-biter against Akins in their previous matchup back in February of 2024, sneaking past 3-2. Does Austin have another victory up their sleeve, or will Akins turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
