Baseball Game Preview: Badger Badgers vs. Wilmot Panthers

For the second straight game, Badger will face off against Wilmot. The Badgers will welcome the Panthers at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.

Badger barely beat Wilmot the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Badgers were the clear victors by an 8-2 margin over the Panthers on Monday. Considering the Badgers have won seven matches by more than five runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

Riley Lussmyer spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered two runs (both of which were unearned) on four hits and racked up seven Ks. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in six consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Brendan Kellar, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. That's the most runs he has posted since back in April. Another player making a difference was Gavin Stewart, who went 1-for-3 with three RBI and one double.

Badger has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-6 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.7 runs over those games. As for Wilmot, they dropped their record down to 9-16 with the loss, which was their third straight at home.

Wilmot's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Badger hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .329.
