Basketball Game Preview: Wildwood Wolves vs. Hawthorne Math & Science Academy The Aviators

Wildwood and Hawthorne Math & Science Academy are an even 4-4 against one another since January of 2020, but not for long. The Wildwood Wolves will be playing at home against the Hawthorne Math & Science Academy The Aviators at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Wildwood is coming into the game hot, having won their last three games.

Wildwood is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They took down New Roads 62-44 on Saturday. The Wolves pushed the score to 52-30 by the end of the third, a deficit the Jaguars cut but never quite recovered from.

Wildwood had a senior duo take command as Zane Bryant went 8 of 12 en route to 20 points and Ike Moore went 6 for 11 on his way to 15 points and five boards. Moore also posted three assists, marking his first of the season. Jonah Spitz was another key player, putting up three points in addition to seven assists, six rebounds, and four steals.

Wildwood was working as a unit and finished the game with 18 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Meanwhile, Hawthorne Math & Science Academy ended up a good deal behind Vistamar on Monday and lost 61-46. While losing is never fun, the The Aviators can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 985th, while the Vikings are ranked 476th).

Wildwood's win bumped their record up to 6-9. As for Hawthorne Math & Science Academy, they have also been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-9 record this season.
