Basketball Game Preview: Highlands Scots vs. Golden Sierra Grizzlies

Two dominant guards in Avion Weaver and Bradley Dodson are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Highlands Scots will face off against the Golden Sierra Grizzlies at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. Highlands is coming into the match hot, having won their last four games.

Highlands will head into Friday's game hoping to keep the good times rolling: they had to skate by with only a two-point margin when they last took the court, which might have inspired the 21-point drubbing they dealt San Juan on Friday. Highlands was the clear victor by a 51-30 margin over San Juan.

Meanwhile, even if it wasn't a dominant performance, Golden Sierra beat Lindhurst 61-55 on Friday.

Highlands better keep an eye on Ethan Caruthers. He was instrumental in Golden Sierra's win, dropping a double-double on 27 points and 16 boards. The dominant performance gave Caruthers a new career-high in points. The team also got some help courtesy of Dodson, who posted 19 points and four steals.

Golden Sierra smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 15 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 14 offensive rebounds in three consecutive contests.

Highlands has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 11-4 record this season. As for Golden Sierra, their victory bumped their record up to 9-10.

Highlands didn't have too much breathing room in their game against Golden Sierra when the teams last played on January 3rd, but they still walked away with a 58-53 win. One of the biggest obstacles the team faced in that game was Caruthers, who dropped a double-double on 19 points and 14 rebounds.
