Baseball Game Preview: Oshkosh West Wildcats vs. Fond du Lac Cardinals

Oshkosh West is 2-8 against Fond du Lac since April of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Thursday. The Wildcats will host the Cardinals at 4:30 p.m. Oshkosh West has given up an average of 9.3 runs per game this season, but Thursday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Oshkosh West came into their game on Saturday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They came up short against West Bend East, falling 17-7. Even though they lost, the Wildcats' still made a splash at the plate and bumped their average scoring up to 6.2 runs per game (they're now ranked -1th in scoring overall).

Eddy Schroeder made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored two runs and stole three bases while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. He has become a key player for Oshkosh West: the team is 2-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 1-2 otherwise. Evan Johnson was another key player, going 2-for-4 with three RBI.

Meanwhile, after soaring to 11 runs the game before, Fond du Lac was a bit more limited in their match on Tuesday. They fell 4-1 to Kaukauna.

Fond du Lac saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jack Brenner, who scored a run while going 2-for-3.

Oshkosh West's loss dropped their record down to 3-3. As for Fond du Lac, they now have a losing record of 1-2.

Oshkosh West skirted past Fond du Lac 5-4 in their previous matchup back in May of 2024. Do the Wildcats have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Cardinals turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
