Basketball Recap: Lourdes Central Catholic Comes Up Short

Lourdes Central Catholic was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They were outmatched by the Axtell Eagles and fell 86-51. The Knights were down 63-36 at the end of the third quarter, and things only got worse from there.

Vance Poppleton and Brady Schnitzer certainly did their best on Friday to avoid the loss. Poppleton went 6 of 10 en route to 15 points and eight rebounds, while Schnitzer went 6 for 10 on his way to 17 points. Poppleton has been hot, having posted eight or more boards the last five times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Oscar Krog, who posted four points.

Lourdes Central Catholic's loss dropped their record down to 5-13. As for Axtell, their win was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 12-1.

Lourdes Central Catholic will face off against Lewiston at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. Lewiston is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 50.3 points per game this season. As for Axtell, they will challenge Wabaunsee on Tuesday.
