Football Recap: Dunnellon Comes Up Short on the Road Against Florida State University High School

Dunnellon had to hit the road for their first game and it wasn't the result they were hoping for. They fell just short of the Florida State University High School Seminoles by a score of 17-14 on Friday. The Tigers were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Seminoles apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in August of 2024.

When it comes to explaining why Dunnellon lost, don't look at Tony Tanner. Despite the final result, he rushed for 174 yards and one touchdown while picking up 10.9 yards per carry, and also picked up 59 receiving yards. Tanner was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 55 yards. Another player making a difference was Dylan Curry, who threw for 136 yards and one TD.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Florida State University High School to victory, but perhaps none more so than Teagan Hackett, who rushed for 109 yards and one score. Keenen Jeune also helped out with an impressive 81 receiving yards.

Florida State University High School has started the season off flawlessly and has a 2-0 record to show for it.

Dunnellon wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next game, a 35-0 defeat against Bradford on the 29th. As for Florida State University High School, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, a 79-14 loss against Thomas County Central on the 29th.
