Volleyball Recap: Newington Snags Eighth Victory in Last Ten Games

There's no place like home for Newington, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Wednesday. Everything went their way against the South Windsor Bobcats on Friday as they made off with a 3-0 victory. The Nor'easters were shut out 3-0 the last time they took on the Bobcats, so the Nor'easters were just returning the favor.

The 3-0 score doesn't show just how dominant Newington was: they took every set by at least ten points. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-14, 25-15, 25-14.

Nate Parlapiano paced Newington's offense, picking up 15 kills. Parlapiano got some help from Tristan Gorman and his 34 assists. Gorman was also solid from the service line: he led the team with five aces.

Newington is on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last ten matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 17-6 record this season. As for South Windsor, they dropped their record down to 3-10 with the loss, which was their tenth straight on the road dating back to last season.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Newington is set to face off against their familiar foe East Hartford at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. Meanwhile, South Windsor will take on rival Windsor at 6:00 p.m. on Monday.
