Rutgers Prep waltzed into their contest on Thursday with seven straight wins... but they left with eight. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Somerville Pioneers a 5-0 shutout. That's two games straight that the Argonauts have won by exactly five runs.

Somerville's batters probably weren't too happy with Li Perez, who pitched a no hitter and racked up 13 Ks (he gave up two walks). Perez has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two hits in five consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Alex Perez, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. The team also got some help courtesy of Ethan Nepomuceno, who went 1-for-2 with three RBI.

Rutgers Prep's victory bumped their record up to 9-2. As for Somerville, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-6.

Looking ahead, Rutgers Prep will be playing at home against South Plainfield at 5:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Somerville, they will head out to square off against Bloomfield at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
