Baseball Recap: Mcdonogh Extends Home Winning Streak to Five

McDonogh entered their tilt with Indian Creek on Wednesday with two consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with three. Their pitchers stepped up to hand Indian Creek a 5-0 shutout. That result was just more of the same for these two, as McDonogh also won the last time the pair played back in April of 2024.

Andy Lambert made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two hits in four consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing two bases while going 1-for-2.

In other batting news, Max Rose and Michael Gorsky did most of the damage at the plate: Rose scored a run and stole three bases while going 1-for-2, while Gorsky scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-3. Gorsky has become a key player for McDonogh: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 2-3 otherwise. Jake Maass also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.

McDonogh's win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 6-3. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.0 runs over those games. As for Indian Creek, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-7.

Looking ahead, McDonogh will head out to square off against St. John's Catholic Prep at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Indian Creek, they will host Glenelg Country at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
