Softball Recap: Pittston Has No Trouble Against Hazleton Area

Pittston's game on Saturday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Monday. They put the hurt on the Hazleton Area Cougars with a sharp 11-4 victory. Considering the Patriots have won eight contests by more than five runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

Samantha Herbert spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and two unearned) runs on six hits.

On the hitting side, Lili Hintze was incredible, going 3-for-4 with three runs, two RBI, and one double. Another player making a difference was Gabby Roman, who went 2-for-4 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run.

Pittston's win ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 9-8. As for Hazleton Area, they have been struggling recently as they've lost ten of their last 12 matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-11 record this season.

We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Pittston is set to challenge their familiar foe Dallas at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Hazleton Area will square off against rival Wilkes-Barre at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
