Softball Recap: Marietta Picks Up Fourth Consecutive Win

Marietta came tearing into Monday's game with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 5 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They were the clear victors by a 16-3 margin over the Waterford Wildcats. The contest marked the Tigers' most dominant victory of the season.

Chloe Harris was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing five innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off seven hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one walk in four consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

In other batting news, Emmy Ward was a standout: she went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double. Another player making a difference was Abby Miller, who went 3-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base.

Marietta always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .647. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Waterford only posted an OBP of .348.

Marietta's record now sits at 12-9. As for Waterford, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost 11 of their last 12 matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 2-16 record this season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Marietta will welcome Logan at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Waterford, they will host Federal Hocking at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Lancers have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 19.46 runs per game on average), something the Wildcats will no doubt try to take advantage of.
