Basketball Recap: Coal Ridge Picks Up Second Consecutive Victory

If Grand Valley wanted to avenge their loss from the last time they played Coal Ridge, they should've done a better job of containing Ben Simons. The Coal Ridge Titans came out on top against the Grand Valley Cardinals by a score of 65-57 on Tuesday thanks in part to Simons, who dropped a double-double on 21 points and 11 rebounds. Those 21 points gave him a new career-high.

Another player making a difference was Diego Gamez, who posted 14 points and three steals. He has been hot, having posted two or more steals the last eight times he's played.

Despite the loss, Grand Valley still got an impressive performance from Trey Teter, who almost dropped a double-double on 14 points and nine boards. Teter is trending in the right direction considering he's improved his point production for three straight games. Jason Diaz also deserves some recognition as he posted his first assist of the season.

The victory made it two in a row for Coal Ridge and bumps their season record up to 7-4. As for Grand Valley, their record is now 4-9.

Coal Ridge didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 62-55 win against Glenwood Springs on the 23rd. As for Grand Valley, they will take on Cedaredge at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Grand Valley is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 51.1 points per game this season.
