Baseball Game Preview: Rodriguez Mustangs vs. Inderkum Tigers

The Rodriguez Mustangs will head out on the road to challenge the Inderkum Tigers at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Rodriguez is coming into the match hot, having won their last nine games.

Rodriguez proved they can win big on Thursday (they won by ten) and on Friday they proved they can win the close ones too. They won by a run and slipped past Oakland Tech 7-6.

Austin Krebs looked comfortable as he pitched four innings while giving up just one earned (and four unearned) runs off four hits. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (three).

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Gideon Mayo, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Jack Jacobson, who went 1-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

Meanwhile, after a string of three wins, Inderkum's good fortune finally ran out on Thursday. They fell just short of Ponderosa by a score of 4-3.

Harrison Manning was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he tossed five innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off nine hits. He has become a key player for Inderkum: the team is 2-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 11-13 otherwise.

On the hitting side, Inderkum saw seven different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Lamont Bufford, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base and one run.

Rodriguez pushed their record up to 17-7 with the victory, which was their fifth straight on the road. The road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.8 runs over those games. As for Inderkum, they now have a losing record of 13-14.
