Baseball Game Preview: Needville Bluejays vs. Sweeny Bulldogs

The Needville Bluejays will head out on the road to square off against the Sweeny Bulldogs at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.

As a matter of fact, Needville put up the most runs they have all season on Thursday. Everything went their way against Brazosport as they made off with an 11-1 victory. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest win the Bluejays have posted against the Exporters since April 16, 2021.

Meanwhile, Sweeny had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 3.5 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Thursday. Their pitchers stepped up to hand the Tigers a 17-0 shutout. That looming 17-0 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Bulldogs yet this season.

The victory made it two in a row for Needville and bumps their season record up to 10-7. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.5 runs over those games. As for Sweeny, their victory bumped their record up to 16-9-1.

Needville couldn't quite finish off Sweeny in their previous matchup back in March and fell 3-1. Can the Bluejays avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
