Clinton gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Monday. Everything went their way against the Ruskin Golden Eagles as the Clinton Cardinals made off with a 20-10 victory. Both teams can probably skip cardio this week after making that many trips around the bases.
For Ruskin's part, Tae Finley stepped up to lead a balanced group of hitters: he scored two runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-3. Lonnie Gray was another key contributor, scoring a run while going 2-for-3.
Ruskin are on a nine-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-2.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Clinton will take on Pleasant Hill at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Ruskin, they will be playing at home against Raytown at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
