Softball Recap: Burroughs Has No Trouble Against Hoover

Burroughs put their dominant pitcher on display in the team's third consecutive shutout on Thursday. They were the clear victors by a 14-0 margin over the Hoover Tornados. The Bears have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Tornados, too.

Burroughs got a great performance from Hailey Franco as she kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out 12 over five innings pitched. Franco has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one walk in four consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Burroughs let Haven Vickers and Kalani Miramontes run wild. Vickers went a perfect 1-for-1 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI, while Miramontes went 2-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. Those three runs gave Vickers a new career-high. Sophie Rangsiyawong was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs and one RBI.

Burroughs has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-4 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.8 runs on average over those games. As for Hoover, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 12-7.

Burroughs didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next match, an 11-2 win against Hart on the 19th. As for Hoover, they have also already played their next game, a 16-3 defeat against Arcadia on the 22nd.
