Basketball Recap: Rio Mesa Has No Trouble Against Portola

While Rio Mesa didn't have the best season last year (they finished 9-17), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They enjoyed a cozy 78-64 victory over the Portola Bulldogs on Thursday.

Jackson Knowles continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, dropping a double-double on 33 points and ten boards. The matchup was his ninth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was John Moreno, who went 8 of 14 en route to 19 points along with five assists and five boards.

Rio Mesa has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a nice bump to their 8-5 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 69.5 points per game. As for Portola, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 7-7.

Rio Mesa didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 74-55 loss against Mission College Prep on the 27th. As for Portola, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 74-53 defeat against Hillcrest Christian on the 27th.
