Baseball Recap: Sheridan Gets the Win

While Sheridan's win against Taylor wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Blackhawks narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past the Titans 7-6. The Blackhawks haven't had any issues with the Titans recently, as the game was their third consecutive win against them.

Braelan Bochner was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he struck out six batters over six innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off one hit. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two hits in eight consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases and one run. Sheridan is undefeated when Bochner posts two or more stolen bases, but 4-8 otherwise.

In other batting news, Austin Hinshaw was excellent, going 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and two runs. Those two runs gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Brayden Whisman, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

Sheridan's victory bumped their record up to 7-8. As for Taylor, they are on a seven-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-11.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Sheridan will welcome Fountain Central at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Taylor, they will be playing at home against Clinton Central at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
