Basketball Recap: Four Straight Home Wins for Mentor

Mentor had won three straight home games and Nina Rodriguez did her part to make it four on Monday. The Mentor Cardinals blew past the Cornerstone Christian Patriots 56-23 thanks in part to Rodriguez, who posted 17 points along with seven steals and six rebounds. Her afternoon made it five games in a row in which she has scored at least ten points.

Another player making a difference was Lyla Willis, who put up three points in addition to six boards and four steals. The dominant performance gave her a new career-high in steals.

Mentor has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six contests, which provided a nice bump to their 11-4 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 58.2 points per game. As for Cornerstone Christian, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 11-4.

Mentor wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 50-46 win against Twinsburg on the 22nd. As for Cornerstone Christian, they are taking a road trip to challenge Villa Angela-St. Joseph at 7:00 p.m. on January 29th. Villa Angela-St. Joseph is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 54.1 points per game this season.
