Baseball Recap: Bridgeport Comes Up Short

Bridgeport fell victim to Martins Ferry and their airtight pitching crew on Friday. They lost 9-0 to the Purple Riders. The shutout was out of character for the Bulldogs seeing as the last time the team failed to score was back in April.

Bridgeport saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Connor Nelson, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base.

Bridgeport's loss dropped their record down to 11-5. As for Martins Ferry, their victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 9-9.

Coming up, Bridgeport will take on River in a tournament on Wednesday. As for Martins Ferry, they didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next match, a 2-1 win against Fairless on the 20th.
