Softball Recap: St. John Wins Going Away Against Badger

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Mathews, St. John was happy to have turned things around on Wednesday. They walked away with a 7-3 victory over the Badger Braves. That looming 7-3 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Fighting Herald yet this season.

Isabelle Holler spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and two unearned) runs on seven hits and racked up nine Ks.

On the hitting side, St. John let Mary West and Nadia Lagoa run wild. West went 3-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI, while Lagoa went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. Those three hits gave West a new career-high. Rylee Frasure also deserves some recognition as she brought in her first RBI of the season.

St. John kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.

St. John's record now sits at 3-4. As for Badger, their loss dropped their record down to 3-5.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. St. John will venture away from home to challenge Lakeside at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Fighting Herald are facing the Dragons at the right time seeing as the Dragons are stuck on a nine-game losing streak. As for Badger, they will head out on the road to face off against Windham at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Bombers will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each match than the last.
