Baseball Game Preview: Republic Tigers vs. Cusick Panthers

Republic is 1-8-1 against Cusick since April of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Tigers will look to take advantage of their home field for the first time this season as they take on the Panthers at 2:00 p.m. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.

For some reason, the away team has come away with the win the last five times Republic and Odessa have met, but the home crowd finally got their W on Saturday. Republic fell just short of Odessa by a score of 20-19.

Meanwhile, Cusick waltzed into their contest on Saturday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They had just enough and edged out the Cougars 20-18. The Panthers' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

The team relied heavily on Daniel L, who got on base in all six of his plate appearances with six stolen bases, four runs, and four RBI. Nick S was another key player, getting on base in five of his six plate appearances with four runs, two stolen bases, and three RBI.

Cusick was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .424. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

Republic's loss dropped their record down to 1-4. As for Cusick, their victory bumped their record up to 5-1.

Republic suffered a grim 14-3 defeat to Cusick when the teams last played back in May of 2025. Can the Tigers avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
