Softball Recap: Sparkman Snags Seventh Victory in Last Eight Games

Sparkman won the last time they faced Brewer and things went their way on Tuesday too. The Senators were the clear victors by a 15-1 margin over the Patriots. The high-scoring effort was just what the Senators needed considering they were shut out in their previous match.

Kara Burman was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she pitched six innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 1-for-2.

In other batting news, Eden Parker was incredible, firing off two home runs, seven RBI, and three runs while going 3-for-3. Those seven RBI gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Taylor Gilreath, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3.

Sparkman has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 22-8-1 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.9 runs on average over those games. As for Brewer, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 9-7-1.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Sparkman will head out to take on Meade County at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Green Waves' pitching crew has only allowed 2.2 runs per game this season, so the Senators' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Brewer, they will square off against Priceville at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
