Baseball Recap: Crete Find Success

Crete won the last time they faced Fairbury and things went their way on Friday too. The Cardinals came out on top against the Jeffs by a score of 9-6.

The team relied heavily on Brooks Piening, who got on base in three of his five plate appearances with two stolen bases, one run, and one double. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last four games he's played. Ethan Placzek was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two runs and one RBI.

Crete hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Fairbury struck out eight times.

Crete's victory bumped their record up to 11-8. As for Fairbury, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-12.

Crete has already played their next match, a 6-0 loss against Seward on the 21st. As for Fairbury, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 16-1 defeat against Raymond Central on the 22nd.
