Baseball Recap: Tupelo Victorious

Tupelo won the last time they faced South Panola and things went their way on Tuesday too. The Tupelo Golden Wave came out on top against the South Panola Tigers by a score of 6-1. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Golden Wave.

South McCoy made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He struck out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in March of 2024. He was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing two bases while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances. Those stolen bases were his first of the season.

In other pitching news, Mason Ballard looked comfortable as he tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits.

Back at the plate, Andrew Kieffer and Tyler Johnson did most of the damage at the plate: Kieffer scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-4, while Johnson went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one double. The dominant performance also gave Kieffer a new career-high in hits (two). Another player making a difference was Dayne Wray, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-2.

Tupelo's record now sits at 3-1. As for South Panola, they now have a losing record of 2-3.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Tupelo will take on Oxford at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Tupelo is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.8 runs per game this season. As for South Panola, a feisty cat fight will be fought as the Tigers duke it out with the Wildcats at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
