Baseball Recap: Reading's Win on Wednesday Extends Winning Streak to Six

Reading waltzed into their matchup on Wednesday with five straight wins... but they left with six. They walked away with a 4-1 victory over the Taylor Yellowjackets. This was payback for the Blue Devils, who suffered a 10-6 defeat the last time these two teams met.

Connor Davis made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out 12 over seven innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one walk in three consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.

In other batting news, Carter Reed was excellent, going 1-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base.

Reading's win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 7-3. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.8 runs over those games. As for Taylor, their loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 3-8.

Reading and Taylor could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Ohio Rankings. The Blue Devils will face off against Batavia at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday with a big rank disadvantage (332 vs. 49). Meanwhile, Taylor (ranked 491st) will meet Lawrenceburg (ranked 64th) at 5:00 p.m. on Friday.
