Softball Game Preview: Mishicot Indians vs. Sevastopol Pioneers

Mishicot has gone a perfect 4-0 against Sevastopol recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. The Indians will head out on the road to challenge the Pioneers at 4:30 p.m. Mishicot is coming into the game hot, having won their last 14 games.

Mishicot is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. Everything went their way against Manitowoc Lutheran on Thursday as they made off with an 18-1 win. The Indians might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won nine matchups by six runs or more this season.

Mishicot got a massive performance out of Cooper Brouchoud, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, five RBI, and two runs. Those five RBI gave Brouchoud a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Zaida Strupp, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and one stolen base.

Mishicot was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .618. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .321 or higher in four consecutive contests.

Meanwhile, Sevastopol's hitters rose to the challenge against a Blazers pitching crew that boasted an average of only 3.21 runs allowed on Tuesday. The Pioneers put the hurt on Green Bay N.E.W. Lutheran with a sharp 10-2 victory. The win continues a trend for the Pioneers in their matchups with the Blazers: they've now won six in a row.

Mishicot pushed their record up to 14-3 with the victory, which was their tenth straight on the road dating back to last season. The road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.8 runs over those games. As for Sevastopol, their record is now 10-3.

Mishicot took their victory against Sevastopol when the teams last played back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 6-0 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Indians since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
