Softball Recap: Avoyelles Charter's Win Ends Four-Game Losing Streak on the Road

Avoyelles Charter was handed a heart-breaking two-run defeat in their last match, but they sure didn't let that happen against Peabody on Monday. The Vikings put the hurt on the Warhorses with a sharp 12-1 victory. The result was nothing new for the Vikings, who have now won nine contests by six runs or more so far this season.

Reagan Lacour and Janiya Heath were a major factor no matter where they played. On the mound, Lacour pitched two innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. Meanwhile, Heath pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. The dominant performance also gave Lacour a new career-high in strikeouts (four). At bat, Lacour scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-2, while Heath scored two runs while going 1-for-4.

In other batting news, Lily Rousseau was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. That home run marked the first that she launched this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Madalyn Guillory, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one triple and two RBI.

Avoyelles Charter's win ended a four-game drought on the road and puts them at 10-15. As for Peabody, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 6-14.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Avoyelles Charter will venture away from home to take on Monterey at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Peabody, they will head out to square off against Carroll at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
