Baseball Game Preview: West Campus Warriors vs. Fairfield Falcons

For the second straight game, West Campus will face off against Fairfield. The Warriors will challenge the Falcons at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. West Campus has given up an average of 7.5 runs per game this season, but Thursday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Tuesday just wasn't the day for West Campus' offense. They came up short against Fairfield on Tuesday, falling 23-0. The Warriors' defeat signaled the end of their seven-game winning streak.

For Fairfield's part, Pat O'Reilly made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out ten over five innings pitched. Those ten strikeouts gave O'Reilly a new career-high. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 4-for-4 with three runs, one triple, and two RBI.

In other batting news, Donavan Luu was a standout: he scored three runs and stole two bases while going 3-for-6. Desten Torrence was another key player, going 2-for-4 with four RBI and two runs.

Fairfield always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .609. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Fairfield's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 15-5. The road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games. As for West Campus, their loss was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 8-1 and their overall record down to 12-6.
