Softball Game Preview: Beloit Memorial Purple Knights vs. Westosha Central Falcons

Beloit Memorial hasn't had much luck against Westosha Central recently, but that could start to change on Monday. The Purple Knights are taking a road trip to take on the Falcons at 4:30 p.m. Beloit Memorial has given up an average of 8.6 runs per game this season, but Monday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Beloit Memorial is headed into Monday's game looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their third straight game on Thursday. They came up short against Union Grove, falling 12-2.

Beloit Memorial saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jasmine Smith, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one double.

Meanwhile, Westosha Central waltzed into their contest on Friday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They put the hurt on the Panthers with a sharp 14-4 win.

Megan Lampos made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she pitched four innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in 11 consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with three RBI and two runs. Those three RBI gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Mykenna Sturino and Colbie LeQuesne did most of the damage at the plate: Sturino got on base in four of her five plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI, while LeQuesne went 3-for-4 with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. LeQuesne is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last seven games she's played. Addison Feeks also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.

Westosha Central hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least two batters in four consecutive matchups.

Westosha Central's record is now 11-6-1. As for Beloit Memorial, their loss dropped their record down to 6-14.
