Softball Game Preview: Marcus Marauders vs. Keller Indians

The Marcus Marauders will head out to face off against the Keller Indians at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Marcus will be looking to extend their current six-game winning streak.

Marcus is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Friday. They never let Arlington get on the board and left with a 3-0 win. Give the Marauders' pitching crew some credit: that's the team's fourth straight shutout.

Meanwhile, Keller faced Frenship in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Friday. The Indians were the clear victors by a 12-5 margin over the Tigers. Considering the Indians have won 13 contests by more than six runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Kaiya Fabela was incredible, firing off two home runs while going 4-for-4. What's more, she posted two runs, the most she's had since back in March. The team also got some help courtesy of Madison Eads, who went 2-for-4 with one home run and two runs.

Keller has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 14 of their last 15 matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 27-7-1 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.9 runs over those games. As for Marcus, they pushed their record up to 24-8 with the win, which was their third straight at home.

Marcus couldn't quite finish off Keller in their previous meeting back in March of 2021 and fell 4-2. Can the Marauders avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
