Soccer Game Preview: Mount Miguel vs. El Cajon Valley

Mount Miguel and El Cajon Valley are an even 4-4-2 against one another since January of 2019, but likely not for long. The Mount Miguel Matadors will head out to face off against the El Cajon Valley Braves at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Mount Miguel has now lost nine straight, leaving the team hunting for their first win since December 21.

Mount Miguel is likely headed into the game with a focus on the second half, which is when things went downhill against West Hills on Wednesday. Mount Miguel fell just short of West Hills by a score of 2-1. While losing is never fun, the Matadors can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 1017th, while the Wolf Pack are ranked 313th).

Meanwhile, Wednesday just wasn't the day for El Cajon Valley's offense. They lost 4-0 to Grossmont on Wednesday. The defeat continues a trend for the Braves in their matchups with the Foothillers: they've now lost three in a row.

Mount Miguel's loss dropped their record down to 3-11-2. As for El Cajon Valley, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-10-5.

Mount Miguel suffered a grim 3-0 defeat to El Cajon Valley when the teams last played two weeks ago. Can Mount Miguel avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
