Volleyball Recap: O'Fallon Panthers vs. Belleville East Lancers

O'Fallon and Belleville East squared off in some playoff action on Thursday, but O'Fallon had to settle for second. They took a 2-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Lancers. Unfortunately, that's the third time they've come up short against the Lancers this season, with their most recent defeat being a 2-0 loss last Tuesday.

While O'Fallon ultimately came up short, they really made Belleville East work, particularly in the first set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 26-24, 25-11.

Izabela Jones paced O'Fallon's offense, picking up five kills. Jones got some help from Taylor Clay and her 11 assists.

Belleville East found their leader in freshman Kailey Lane, who had 19 digs and one assist. Lane has been hot recently, having posted 11 or more digs the last three times she's played.

O'Fallon's loss dropped their record down to 23-14. As for Belleville East, they have been performing well recently as they've won 22 of their last 27 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 29-8 record this season.

O'Fallon does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Belleville East, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 2-0 win against Edwardsville on the 4th.
