Basketball Recap: Anthony Tedesco's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Pine Ridge over University

Pine Ridge was the 66-61 winner over University when they last played one another back in January, but their luck changed this time around. The Pine Ridge Panthers took a 62-58 hit to the loss column at the hands of the University Titans. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game last Tuesday (56), the Panthers still had to take the loss.

Pine Ridge's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Anthony Tedesco, who posted 12 points along with eight rebounds and three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Jyles Newman, who went 8 of 18 en route to 17 points along with seven boards and three steals.

Even though they lost, Pine Ridge smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 12 offensive rebounds in four consecutive matchups.

University got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Christian Johnson out in front who went 6 of 8 on his way to 14 points and eight rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Jaxson Harris, who put up 11 points.

Pine Ridge has been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-4 record this season. As for University, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 5-3.

Pine Ridge and Spruce Creek will compete for holiday cheer at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Pine Ridge is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 60.6 points per game this season. As for University, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 60-50 loss against Crescent City on the 14th.
