Softball Recap: Desert Edge Has No Trouble Against Paradise Valley

Desert Edge's game on Wednesday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Thursday. Everything went their way against the Paradise Valley Trojans as they made off with a 14-1 victory. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Scorpions considering their one-run performance the contest before.

Makayla Dudley (2025) made a big impact no matter where she played. She tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Dudley (2025) was also big at the plate, getting on base in all three of her plate appearances with two RBI.

In other batting news, Desert Edge let Azerae Cantrell (2027) and Gwen Alvarez (2026) run wild. Cantrell (2027) went 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI, while Alvarez (2026) went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double. That's the most runs Cantrell (2027) has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Leila Taylor (2027), who went 1-for-3 with three runs and one RBI.

Desert Edge always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .548. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Paradise Valley only posted an OBP of .158.

Desert Edge's record is now 9-12. As for Paradise Valley, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-13.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Desert Edge will take on Mountain Pointe at 3:45 p.m. on Tuesday. The Scorpions are facing the Pride at the right time seeing as the Pride are stuck on an 11-game losing streak. As for Paradise Valley, they will face off against Verrado at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Trojans' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Vipers have averaged an impressive 9.4 runs per game this season.
