Proviso East hadn't done well against Lyons recently (they were 0-5 in their previous five matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Saturday. The Proviso East Pirates were the clear victor by a 62-40 margin over the Lyons Lions. Winning may never get old, but the Pirates sure are getting used to it with their ninth in a row.

Proviso East got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Isaiah Pickens out in front who posted 17 points along with six boards and five assists. The dominant performance gave Pickens a new career-high in assists. Another player making a difference was Jarret Swift, who scored 15 points and six rebounds.

Proviso East has been performing well recently as they've won ten of their last 12 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 15-7 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 64.3 points per game. As for Lyons, they have been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-11 record this season.

Proviso East and Lyons should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Illinois Rankings. Proviso East will square off against Addison Trail at 7:30 p.m. on Friday up 170 places (165 vs. 335). Meanwhile, Lyons (ranked 206th) will meet Hinsdale South (ranked 469th) at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
