Volleyball Recap: Canyon del Oro Comes Up Short

Canyon del Oro lost against Catalina Foothills back in March of 2022, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Dorados lost 3-0 to the Falcons. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Dorados have suffered since March 20th.

Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-14, 25-16, 25-10.

Canyon del Oro's offense was headlined by Elijah Unsworth and Mason Boothe, who picked up three kills apiece. They got some help from Joey Pletnick and his four assists.

Catalina Foothills was led to victory by Zane Schwartz and Isak Sanchez. Schwartz had nine digs and two assists, while Sanchez had six digs and three aces. Those three aces gave Sanchez a new career-high. Vincent Merheb also deserves some recognition as he had his first block of the season.

Canyon del Oro has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 11-11 record this season. As for Catalina Foothills, their victory bumped their record up to 16-10.

Canyon del Oro has already played their next contest, a 3-2 loss against Buena on the 8th. As for Catalina Foothills, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 3-0 win against Flowing Wells on the 7th.
