Baseball Recap: Smithtown Christian Comes Up Short

Despite a phenomenal run in the regular season, Smithtown Christian couldn't carry that success into this playoff game. They fell 5-2 to the North Warren Central Cougars on Friday. Having soared to a lofty 12 runs in the game before, the Knights couldn't push the score so high this time.

Quincy Gibbs was huge no matter where he played even without the win. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two hits in 11 consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with one stolen base and one run.

In other batting news, Isaiah Gibbs was cooking despite his team's loss, going 1-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one RBI. That triple was his first of the season.

Smithtown Christian's loss dropped their record down to 16-3. As for North Warren Central, the win was the eighth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 15-5-1.

As of now, neither Smithtown Christian nor the Cougars have any future games scheduled.
