Basketball Recap: Hailee Koontz Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Damonte Ranch

There's no place like home for Douglas, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Wednesday. They walked away with a 47-35 victory over the Damonte Ranch Mustangs on Friday. For the Tigers, this counts as revenge for the 44-41 win the Mustangs walked away with the last time they faced one another back in February of 2024.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Douglas to victory, but perhaps none more so than Hailee Koontz, who almost dropped a double-double on ten points and nine rebounds. Koontz is on a roll when it comes to boards, as she's now pulled down nine or more in the last seven games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Ashlyn Greenfield, who posted nine points and four steals.

Damonte Ranch lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Jazmine Monges, who put up seven points along with five rebounds and four steals. A?Laya Washington was another key player, putting up eight points and five rebounds.

Douglas is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six games, which provided a massive bump to their 7-8 record this season. As for Damonte Ranch, their loss dropped their record down to 2-13.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Douglas will face off against Carson at 5:15 p.m. on Monday. As for Damonte Ranch, they will challenge Galena at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Damonte Ranch is facing Galena at the right time seeing as Galena is stuck on a four-game losing streak.
