Basketball Recap: Friday's Loss Ends White River's Winning Streak

It was fun while it lasted, but White River's undefeated season came to an end after eight games on Friday. They fell to the North Thurston Rams 93-89. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game last Thursday (72), the Hornets still had to take the loss.

North Thurston's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Kurt Cavalier, who went 8 for 16 on his way to 28 points and five rebounds. Cavalier continues to improve, besting his previous point total in each of the last four games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Micah Anderson, who went 9 of 17 on his way to 20 points and five rebounds.

Having lost for the first time this season, White River fell to 8-1. As for North Thurston, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 6-4.

White River will challenge Federal Way at 7:00 p.m. on January 3, 2025. As for North Thurston, they won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Beamer at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday. North Thurston knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past four matchups -- so hopefully Beamer likes a good challenge.
