Preview: Godinez Fundamental Grizzlies vs. Ocean View Seahawks
Godinez Fundamental is 0-4 against Ocean View since October of 2018 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Godinez Fundamental Grizzlies will head out on the road to face off against the Ocean View Seahawks at 7:00 p.m. The two teams have had a bumpy ride up to this point with three consecutive losses apiece.
Last Friday, Godinez Fundamental took a serious blow against Laguna Beach, falling 50-7. While losing is never fun, Godinez Fundamental can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California football rankings (they are ranked 939th, while Laguna Beach is ranked 191st).
Yahir Ramirez put forth a good effort for the losing side as he rushed for 92 yards and a touchdown on only 12 carries. Ramirez really tore up the turf during one magnificent 78-yard run.
Meanwhile, Ocean View fell victim to Westminster's stalwart defense on Friday and couldn't make it onto the board. They were outmatched by the Lions at home and fell 28-0. Ocean View was already down big by the end of the third quarter and they stayed that way after failing to score in the fourth.
Godinez Fundamental's defeat was their third straight on the road, which dropped their overall record down to 3-6. The slump could be explained by some tough opposition over that stretch, namely Laguna Beach, Westminster, and Glenn. As for Ocean View, they now have a losing record at 4-5.
Godinez Fundamental came up short against Ocean View in their previous meeting back in October of 2022, falling 20-12. Can Godinez Fundamental avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
